Milligan |
On a warm summers morning in 2005 a litter of Lurcher puppies were born at the Refuge. All went well and when the time came most of the puppies were easily placed into homes. Eventually all the litter and the mother were rehomed except one, Milligan, the runt of the litter who was a small, quiet, nervous little dog. Time went by and Milligan fell into a routine. He quickly became a favourite among the staff and his confidence grew little by little. However even with all his progress he was still overlooked by possible adopters.

Two years passed and Milligan was still living at the Refuge hopefully one day some one would fall in love with him. Staff were starting to wonder if he would ever be rehomed or even if he would cope in a home environment as he had never experienced anything other than the kennel and the Refuge grounds. Would it be too late to house train him?, would he suffer stress anxiety?, would he be forced to live in the kennel environment?
Finally the happy day came and a family came looking for a dog to rehome and fell in love with Milligan. Tentatively Milligan got to know his new friends and went to live in his new home. Soon all fears of possible problems disappeared as Milligan coped with the transition extremely well learning new skills on a daily basis.
