The Animals' Refuge

Nelson is an adult male Rottweiler Cross he is a lovely friendly dog full of character and loves to play and chase toys.

Nelson does not really seem to know any commands so a bit of basic training may be needed when he gets into his new home.

When playing Nelson can become over excited and he can be a bit 'mouthy' this is just his way of trying to be dominant. Nelson is not being aggressive but needs some firm leadership and boundaries set to help him become a fantastic dog.

We would like to home Nelson where there are not any small children or cats. He really is a great dog who just needs time spent with him.

Benedict is a very sweet small male Lurcher. He is friendly and exciteable but can be a bit timid and sensitive so a gentle approach is required!

Benedict is very friendly and loves to roll over for tummy rubs! He gets on well with other dogs and even seems fine with cats in his company, so could possibly be rehomed where there are cats this would be reassessed before adoption.

Benedict will make a great family dog enjoying long walks and comfort and company on an evening.

Mungo is a young adult Lurcher, he is an extremely affectionate chap, loving plently of hugs! He is so friendly and eager to please.

Mungo has been waiting quite some time now to find his new family, and everyday hopes they will come along. He has been doing well with his training with both staff and volunteers he is naturally really responsive and well mannered on the lead, so you need not worry about being hauled off your feet by him, he is quite the gent.

Mungo is an active dog who loves nothing better than stretching his legs in the big run with his friend Otto. He is looking for a loving active home where he can get all the love and attention he deserves.

Charlie and Oscar are an adorable pair of 6 year old male Lurchers.

They are both friendly outgoing dogs, who love each others company. They have both lived with children and get along with other dogs, love to play and are good to walk.

They both love the water although Oscar prefers to watch Charlie do all the swimming! They have settled in well at the Refuge but will hopefully be on their way to a new home soon.

Molly is a very sweet and affectionate adult Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross.

Molly loves to give kisses! she will sit when asked, is good on the lead and comes back to you when called.

Molly loves having fun and stretching her legs in the big outdoor run. Another canine companion may be a possibility for Molly as so far she has appeared friendly with other dogs, but they would have to meet to check they get along.

Molly is a lovely dog looking for a home full of as much love as she has to give back to you

Alfie is an older gent who deserves a loving home where he can enjoy gentle walks, home comforts, and being able to lie by the fire on an evening.

Alfie is great on the lead and such a friendly chap always leaning in for cuddles and affection. He still has plenty of energy and likes to run and play, and really is just a happy dog.

Ralph is a very sweet little male Lurcher. He is currently doing lots of training with some staff members as he has shown a few issues with other dogs, but each session is proving possitive and he now has another dog he is happy to walk with.

Ralph just needs reassurance and time to learn that it isn't frightening being around other dogs and can actually be fun. Ralph is affectionate with people good on the lead and will sit when asked.

Out of the stressfull Kennel environment Ralph should be a very happy dog in a home where he can enjoy going for walks and meeting other dogs.

Lucy Lui is a lovely female Lurcher she has such a sweet temperament and will make a great family dog. She is good with other dogs and especially enjoys walking with her friend Mungo.

Lucy Lui is very affectionate and loves cuddles and her home comforts, you will often find her relaxing on her big duvet!

Lucy Lui is looking for a loving family who can share her cuddles, take her on long enjoyable walks and enjoy each others company.

Jasper is a young small male Lurcher. He is a happy and friendly dog, who looks forward to his walks.

Jasper came in as a stray in the beginning of November 2011 and is hoping to find his new home soon. Jasper has an old injury to his tail you may notice the 'kink' in the end of it, but it causes him no problems or pain and now just adds to his character.

Jasper will need to be re-homed where there are no cats or small furries as true to his nature he would certainly like to chase them! Jasper is a sweet dog who will be a great addition to many a family home.

Holly is a lovely Lurcher cross Bull Terrier. She was very nervous when she first came in, and with a sore leg and the noise and stress of the kennels she was not a happy girl at all.

Now in a quieter kennel environment and with some tlc to gain her trust, she is now a very happy dog who can't get enough affection!

Holly loves to run in the big outdoor playpen, although does not seem that struck on toys she has more fun just running flat out.

Holly comes back when called, and is very patient and gentle whilst getting her harness on. She does not seem to know many commands when you ask her to sit you tend to get a cuddle!

Taz is a very cute small male Lurcher. He is just a young dog with many years ahead of him, hopefully spent with his new loving family.

Taz loves to play with toys and will sit when asked. He is a very affectionate dog who loves company and will hopefully find a home where someone has plenty of time to spend with him and teach him it is alright to be left alone.

Taz is great on the lead and loves being out for a walk, He is gentle with his food and loves treats.

Dancer is a handsome male Lurcher. He is a patient gentle dog who has great kennel and food manners.

Dancer is excellent on the lead and loves to go out for a walk, likewise he loves to gallop in the big playpens! He has not shown much interest in toys prefering just to wizz about at high speed!

Unfortunately Dancer will not be able to be homed with cats, but he has ran with other dogs here at the Refuge and got on well.

Dancer will make a great family companion and will give back so much affection.

Jynx is a very sweet 10yr old Boxer. She is a real sweetheart and loves all people, enjoying her play and walk time with our dog walkers.

Jynx gets on with other dogs and has a great time in the big outdoor playpen so another dog in the home should not be a problem. She has also lived with cats so is one of the few dogs in the kennels that can be re-homed with them.

Obviously being in her older years she will need that wee bit extra tlc, she enjoys her daily joint care treats and she will just be happy to be in a loving home with company and home comforts.

Rudolph is a very handsome male Lurcher. His name was inspired as he came to us on christmas eve, looking much like a reindeer in his striking red coat. He was underweight and a bit unhappy when he arrived but is now gaining weight and looking healthy and is a very happy sociable dog.

Rudolph loves attention and delights in being taken out for a walk or a run, he is very playful. He has had some issues with his tail which has resulted in much of it needing removed but this has not affected him at all. He is still as handsome and it relieves him from any pain and discomfort that he was experiencing.

Rudolph really deserves a kind, loving home where he can share his zest for life and affection

Nala is a lovely female Husky. She came to us in the christmas period very underweight, dirty and frightened. She has very little trust in humans, so it is a case of little and often with her, spending time in her kennel, introducing a brush, and short walks to gain both her confidence and muscle tone.

Nala has shown no agression whatsoever, only fear. She has begun spending a bit of time out on the lead in the company of another husky to help with her confidence and socialisation, which she seems to enjoy.

Another dog would probably be a good idea in her new home as she will find comfort and reassurance from them, and learn from them as she goes.

Nala will need a home with a lot of love, time and patience to bring out the best in this beautiful dog.
